(Davao City, October 25, 2024). The Regional Project Monitoring Committee (RPMC) XI, led by Regional Development Council (RDC) XI Co-Chairperson, Private Sector Representative (PSR) Arturo M. Milan, and RPMC XI Chairperson, NEDA XI Regional Director Priscilla R. Sonido, inspected three (3) Official Development Assistance (ODA) – funded projects implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – Unified Project Management Office (UPMO) and one major project under the Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program of the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD).
These are the Samal Island – Davao Connector (SIDC) Project, Bucana Bridge Project and Davao City Bypass Construction Project (DCBCP), implemented by the DPWH-UPMO which will enhance intra-regional connectivity and improve land traffic congestion, as well as the People’s Ville I, II and III Project under the 4PH Program which accelerates housing production and financing towards providing adequate, affordable, secure and resilient housing access to families in Davao Region.
The four major projects were among the 20 programs and projects validated on the field by the RPMC XI and NEDA XI monitoring teams for the 4th Quarter 2024 field monitoring activity conducted on October 16 – 18 and 22 – 25, 2024 in Davao City, Davao del Sur, Mati City, Davao Oriental, and Tagum City and the Municipalities of Carmen and San Isidro, Davao del Norte.
The SIDC Project is the construction of a toll-free four – lane extradosed bridge with a length of 4.01 km including ramps in Davao City and at grade road and roundabout in the Island Garden City of Samal (IGaCoS). It is a design and build project that will connect Samal Circumferential Road in the IGaCoS and R. Castillo – Daang Maharlika Junction in Davao City. As of September 25, 2024, the overall weighted physical accomplishment of the project is 5.849 percent.
The Bucana Bridge Project is the construction of a four-lane, six-span extradosed bridge with a length of 1.34 km and approach roads crossing Davao River. As of September 2024, the project is 53.76 percent complete.
The DCBCP is the implementation of a 45.5 km bypass road that will begin in Barangay Sirawan, Toril, Davao City and will end at Barangay J.P. Laurel, Panabo City. This includes the construction of two 2.3 km main tunnels with two road lanes each. The usual travel time between said points of 1 hour and 44 minutes via Maharlika Highway will be reduced to 49 minutes. The DCBCP is divided into six contract packages namely I-1, I-2, I-3, II-1, II-2 and II-3. Ongoing packages during monitoring visit were packages I-1, I-3, II-1, and II-2. As of the monitoring visit on October 25, 2024, overall weighted physical accomplishment for the ongoing packages is 37.41 percent.
The People’s Ville I, II, III Condominium Project implemented by the Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC) under the DHSUD’s 4PH Program involves the construction of 72 five-storey buildings with a total of 7,200 housing units in Calinan, Davao City. As of October 2024, four buildings have been completed and 10 are ongoing. The overall weighted physical accomplishment of the ongoing 10 buildings is 75.97 percent.
