Davao City, May 14, 2024 – The Regional Land Use Committee (RLUC) XI convened for its CY 2024 1st Semester Meeting presided by NEDA XI Regional Director and RLUC XI Chairperson, Priscilla R. Sonido, CESO III.

The Davao del Norte Province presented the Provincial Development and Physical Framework Plan (PDPFP), 2023-2028 to the RLUC XI during the meeting. This document shall serve as the primary planning guide of the Province showcasing its resources; proposed land use and physical development framework; development issues, goals, objectives/ targets; strategies, programs, projects and activities; and the mechanisms in implementing and monitoring the said Plan. The crafting of the said document underwent rigorous process from its drafting to its technical review and finally to its endorsement to its Sangguniang Panlalawigan.

As the Region gears towards the updating of another primary physical planning document, the members of the RLUC XI vetted and approved the Terms of Reference (TOR) for the Davao Region Physical Framework Plan (DRPFP), 2025-2055. The TOR covers the constitution of the RLUC-Technical Working Groups on map preparation and drafting of the narratives which is composed of primary and alternative representatives from the Davao Region offices of national government agencies and the private sector; and the modular trainings on land use and physical framework which shall facilitate the completion of each chapter and sections of the DRPFP, 2023-2028.

The members were also apprised on the overview of the PLANADO Program and its alignment with other national plans and programs. The said Program, spearheaded by the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development, aims to streamline and digitalize land use and urban planning and development promoting building smart, green, resilient, and inclusive human settlements. Its main objectives are to achieve zero backlog on the Local Government Units’ Comprehensive Land Use Plans by 2028; and UrbaNext 2040 which targets to implement innovative and transformative urban development projects. It shall utilize the PlanSmart digital platform and integrated database system.
