Davao City, November 29, 2024 – The Regional Land Use Committee (RLUC) XI convened for its CY 2024 2nd Semester Meeting presided by NEDA XI Regional Director and RLUC XI Chairperson, Priscilla R. Sonido, CESO III.
Salient features of the Davao Region Physical Framework Plan (DRPFP), 2025-2055 were presented during the said meeting which states that Davao Region will continue to implement the spatial strategy of its current DRPFP, 2015-2045 expanding Metropolitan Davao into a Growth Triangle focusing on its emerging growth areas. In terms of its long-term spatial strategy, the Region shall evolve into a “Growth Diamond”, delineating the Region into development zones ensuring sustainable progress. The Plan serves as the primary spatial and physical planning guide of the Region showcasing its resources; identifying the challenges; formulating strategies and proposed programs, projects and activities; laying out the medium- and long-term spatial strategies; and the mechanism in its implementation and monitoring. The formulation of the said Plan was done through a series of activities from the conduct of modular trainings up to the participation in various technical working group (TWG) meetings. Inputs leading to the completion of this document were provided by the different TWG members from the various national government agencies, provincial LGUs, and the private sector. During the meeting, the DRPFP, 2025-2055 was approved and endorsed to the Regional Development Council XI for adoption.
The Committee was also apprised on the overview of the Automated Land Use and Zoning Ordinance Compliance Assessment Monitoring Tool (AutoCam) Project of the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) and Philippine Space Agency. The said Project aims to generate maps highlighting areas of compliance and non-compliance to the actual land use and its zoning. DHSUD Regional Offices shall validate findings using the LGUs’ land use and zoning-related decisions database. Agencies shall then take appropriate enforcement actions based on the reports.
