(Davao City, September 13, 2024). During its 3rd Quarter Regular Meeting on September 13, 2024, the Regional Development Council (RDC) XI approved the Davao Region Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Catch-Up Plan.

Recognizing the urgency in attaining SDG targets, all Regions in the country, through the RDCs, were tasked to formulate their respective SDG Catch-Up Plans. The Davao Region SDG Catch-Up Plan will serve as the Region’s overall blueprint for addressing SDG implementation gaps and provide the interventions necessary to accelerate the attainment of the targets espoused in the SDG Indicator Framework. The Plan’s formulation process utilized the “Every Policy is Connected” (EPiC) Framework and Tool developed by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), in conjunction with the SDG Planning Tool introduced by the NEDA.

The SDG Catch-Up Plan focused on the regressing or lagging indicators reported in the SDG Pace of Progress Report generated by the PSA. The SDG Catch-Up Plan identified a total of 44 “Issues for Action” which affect the performance of the Core Regional SDG Indicators (CoRe-SDGIs) monitored for Davao Region. The Plan further determined 51 indicators necessary for monitoring the effect of policies and programs towards the attainment of the SDG targets.

The features of the SDG Catch-Up Plan shall be an important reference in the updating of Davao Regional Development Plan, 2023-2028 wherein most of the CoRe-SDGIs are already mainstreamed in the DRDP’s Results Matrices.
