Davao City, November 17, 2022 – The Regional Development Council XI conducted a multi-stakeholder consultation on the Davao Regional Development Plan 2023-2028 on November 27, 2022, at the SMX Convention Center, SM Lanang Premier, L.P. Laurel Avenue, Davao City. The event was attended by around 200 stakeholders representing the local government units, business sector, NGOs, CSOs, private sector organizations, national government agencies, GOCCs, academe, youth sector, military, police, and RDC XI private sector representatives, among others.
In her welcome remarks, RDC XI Chairperson Gov. Corazon N. Malanyaon said that the purpose of the consultation is to ensure the alignment of the DRDP’s development thrusts and priorities with those identified by the Marcos Administration in the Philippine Development Plan 2023-2028 and evaluate the responsiveness and consistency of the DRDP with the development initiatives of Local Government Units in Davao Region for the said plan period. As the newly appointed Chairperson of the Regional Development Council for Davao Region, Gov. Malanyaon was happy to note that the Davao Regional Development Plan shall be completed within the year of assumption of the new Administration. This will give the Region a concrete guide and action plan for the next six years in the RDC XI, Gov. Malanyaon added.
During the consultation, participants reviewed and validated the contents of each chapter of the DRDP 2023-2028 vis-à-vis its Strategic Framework and check the consistency between and among chapters to ensure the achievement of the regional goals and objectives. The gallery walk methodology allowed the generation of additional inputs and recommendations for the enhancement of the Draft DRDP 2023-2028 particularly from Local Government Units.
After the gallery walk, the RDC XI Planning Committee Secretariats processed the results and presented to the plenary any outstanding and cross-cutting issues, for resolution. As a next step, the RDC XI Secretariat shall revise and enhance the write-ups of the DRDP Chapters based on the results of the multi-stakeholder consultation.
The DRDP 2023-2028 Chapters shall be presented to the RDC XI Sectoral Committees and finally to the Full Council during its 4th quarter 2022 meeting on December 13, 2022 for approval and adoption.
