(Davao City). Governor Corazon Malanyaon of Davao Oriental and PSR Arturo Milan of the energy/ICT sector took their oath of office as Regional Development Council (RDC) XI Chairperson and Co-Chairperson for the term 2022-2025 during the Council’s CY 2022 Fourth Quarter Meeting on December 13, 2022, at SMX Convention Center, Lanang, Davao City following their presidential appointment dated October 19, 2022. The oathtaking was administered by Mayor Michelle Marie Denise Rabat of Mati City.

Eleven Special Non-Voting Members also took their oath of office which was administered by Gov. Malanyaon. The SNVMs include: the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples XI, National Housing Authority XI, Philippine Information Agency XI, Office of Civil Defense XI, PNP-Police Regional Office XI, 10th Infantry Division-Philippine Army, Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor, UP Mindanao, Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc., ICT Davao, Inc., KAPWA Upliftment Foundation, Inc., DENR – Environmental Management Bureau XI and Philippine Health Insurance Corporation XI.

In her opening message, RDC XI Chairperson Gov. Malanyaon pointed out that she wants an RDC that is consultative and proactive in addressing hindrances in the implementation of the Regional Development Plan and hopes to see more of the region’s local chief executives actively engaged in the Council under her leadership. “We also need to sustain our status as insurgency-free region in coordination with the Regional Peace and Order Council through a whole-of-government and whole-of-society approach, so that we can translate the investments and tourism readiness of Davao region into more, better quality, and green jobs for our people”, she added. The RDC XI approved the Davao Regional Development Plan, 2023-2028 including the Results Matrices, and the Regional Development Investment Program, 2023-2028, and passed a total of 37 resolutions.

In line with the spirit of sharing and strengthening camaraderie amongst RDC XI members, the Council held its year-end fellowship after the meeting. The members actively participated in the teambuilding game and gift exchange punctuated by live band entertainment sponsored by the RDC XI Chairperson.
