(September 15, 2023, Mabini, Davao de Oro) – The Regional Development Council (RDC) XI adopted Davao Region’s Creative Industries Roadmap (DRCIR), 2024-2030 during the Council’s 3rd Quarter Regular Meeting at Dusit Thani Lubi Plantation, Municipality of Mabini, Davao de Oro on September 15, 2023.
The DRCIR, 2024-2030, the first in the country, is one of the outputs of the study conducted by NEDA Regional Office XI under the NEDA Research and Development (R&D) Project. The preparation of the roadmap took-off from the results of the Situation Analysis of Davao Region’s Creative Industries, generated through series of focus group discussions (FGDs) and key informant interview (KII); survey of individuals and establishments; secondary data gathering; and consultation-workshop.

The six-year Roadmap shall serve as the common blueprint for public and private sector stakeholders to achieve the vision of “A sustainable, culture-centered, Davao Region of diverse, innovative, and world-class creative industries.”

With the Davao Region Creative Industries Council (CIC), chaired by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) XI, as the platform for collaboration, the Region shall work towards the common goals of 1) providing an enabling environment for the creative industry; 2) ensuring the protection of the natural, cultural and human resources; 3) professionalizing the creative sector according to national and international standards; 4) ensuring protection of rights and welfare of creatives; and 5) promoting economic growth and development.

The roadmap encompasses the goals, strategies, policies, as well as programs, activities and projects (PAPs) for the nine creative industry domains, namely: Audiovisual Media, Digital Interactive Media, Creative Services, Design, Publishing and Printed Media, Performing Arts, Visual Arts, Traditional Cultural Expressions, and Cultural Sites, with Education as a transversal or cross-cutting domain.

The DRCIR, 2024-2030 shall be officially endorsed by the NEDA XI Regional Project Steering Committee (RPSC) XI to the NEDA R&D Project Steering Committee (PSC) for final review and approval, prior to the Project’s closing date on September 30, 2023.
