
(Davao City, January 21, 2026). Major government infrastructure projects across the Davao Region registered steady progress as of the end of CY 2025, reflecting sustained investments to improve connectivity, mobility, and economic development in the region.
One of the flagship initiatives, the Davao City Bypass Construction Project (DCBCP), spans 45.5 kilometers from Toril, Davao City to Panabo City, Davao del Norte, and recorded an overall physical accomplishment of 27.03 percent as of December 2025. The project is being implemented through six contract packages. Tunnel excavation works component under Package I-1 has been completed, while other packages are advancing through various stages with differing levels of physical accomplishment. Meanwhile, Package II-3 remains scheduled for procurement.
The Davao Public Transport Modernization Project (DPTMP) likewise gained momentum in the previousyear. Significant accomplishments include the full acquisition and commencement of construction of the Davao Bus Driving Academy in Calinan, and awarding of contracts for diesel and electric bus fleets. The project aims to establish a modern, efficient, and environmentally sustainable public transport system for Davao City.
Progress also continues on the Samal Island–Davao Connector Project, a 3.98-kilometer, four-lane extradosed bridge linking Davao City and the Island Garden City of Samal. As of December 2025, the project posted a 49.17 percent physical accomplishment, bringing the region closer to improved inter-island mobility, tourism access, and disaster-resilient transport infrastructure.
Meanwhile, the Expansion of the Passenger Terminal Building, one of the components of the Davao International Airport Modernization Project, has reached 27.89 percent physical completion as of early January 2026. This development is set to boost the airport’s capacity and elevate service standards, further improving the travel experience for passengers.
The Mati Airport in Davao Oriental remains a priority project aimed at improving air connectivity in the eastern part of the region through upgrading to accommodate turbo-prop aircrafts. By end of 2025, works for the expansion and improvement of the passenger terminal building, construction of the vehicular parking area, fire station, elevated water tank, service road, and ground support equipment road are ongoing, with a combined physical accomplishment of 44.35 percent. In preparation for full airport upgrading, the rehabilitation of the runway, apron, and taxiways, amounting to PHP 700 million, has been included in the CY 2026 General Appropriations Act.
For the Mindanao Railway Project – Tagum–Davao–Digos (TDD) Segment, the Department of Transportation is currently undertaking the procurement of consultants for the updating of the project’s feasibility study, financed through the Asian Development Bank.
The Regional Development Council XI emphasized that these major infrastructure initiatives are expected to strengthen regional integration, boost economic activity, and improve the quality of life for residents across the Davao Region.
