Davao City – Chaired by Cabinet Officer for Regional Development and Security for Davao Region and DBM Secretary Wendel E. Avisado, the Davao Region Balik Probinsya, Bagong Pag-asa (BP²) Committee approved the BP²P Implementation Action Plan for Davao Region during its meeting on November 19, 2020 via zoom.

The BP²P Implementation Action Plan provides direction for NGAs, LGUs and other stakeholders in the implementation of the BP² Program in Davao Region. It identifies specific strategies and corresponding programs and projects to achieve the goals and objectives of the BP² Program.

The implementation of the BP²P hinges on the following key result areas: a) to empower local industries by providing access to credit and support to micro, small, and medium enterprises; b) ensure food security and agricultural productivity through support to agricultural industries and innovation for agriculture production; c) improve standards of living through employment, housing, welfare, health services and capacity development; and d) infrastructure development by providing linkage to key production and settlement areas and reliable power and water supply.

The BP² Program beneficiaries shall enjoy a matatag, maginhawa, at panatag na buhay as a result of efficient social services and amenities, including education and health facilities, plentiful livelihood opportunities, access to credit and finance, reliable linkages to markets and to bigger business enterprises that would add value to produce through a tight and cohesive value chain. There shall be continuous human resource development and skills enhancement in order to take advantage of new technologies and innovation. Transfer or expansion of medium and large businesses to provincial economic hubs shall be encouraged.

To ensure wide dissemination of the Program and enjoin the support of all sectors of society, the Davao Region BP² Communication Plan was also approved during this meeting. The communication strategies provide institutional support to the BP2P’s key result areas. These strategies and PAPs include the following: a) conduct of barangay consultations, fora, press releases, interviews, and information campaigns via print, radio, TV and social media; b) a BP²P speaker’s bureau to assist in conveying information that will increase awareness and understanding about the BP²P; and c) a regional dashboard and a database that will be developed as repositories of BP²P information and indicators.
