(Davao City, May 6, 2025). The Regional Project Monitoring Committee (RPMC) XI inspected all five (5) ongoing project packages of the Davao City Bypass Construction Project (DCBCP) on May 6, 2025, following its tunnel breakthrough ceremony for the northbound tunnel on April 28, 2025. Five (5) out of the six (6) contract packages for the DCBCP are ongoing including all three (3) packages under Official Development Assistance (ODA). The remaining Package II-3 funded by the Philippine Government is to undergo procurement during the 3rd or 4th Quarter of this year.

The DCBCP is the implementation of a 45.5 km bypass road that will begin in Barangay Sirawan, Toril, Davao City and will end at Barangay J.P. Laurel, Panabo City. It includes the construction of two (2) 2.3 km main tunnels with two (2) road lanes each. Upon completion, the project is expected to reduce the usual travel time between said points from 1 hour and 44 minutes via Maharlika Highway to only 49 minutes. The DCBCP is divided into six (6) contract packages namely I-1, I-2, I-3, II-1, II-2 and II-3. Package I is funded under ODA while Package II is the Philippine Government counterpart for the project. As of April 30, 2025, the DCBCP has an overall physical accomplishment of 48.90 percent.

Two (2) other ODA – funded projects implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – Unified Project Management Office (UPMO) were inspected by the RPMC XI monitoring team, namely the Samal Island – Davao Connector Bridge Project and Bucana Bridge Project which are both on track with their planned construction activities.

Under the ODA-funded Philippine Rural Development Project Scale-Up, the RPMC XI monitoring team inspected the Rehabilitation of Km 15 Kipalili-New Loon Farm-to-Market Road with bridge project located in San Isidro, Davao del Norte. This project, implemented by the Provincial Government of Davao del Norte and funded by the Department of Agriculture (DA) – Regional Field Office XI has a physical accomplishment of 22.34 percent. The project involves the construction of a 6.9 kilometer road with bridge component.

The RPMC XI monitoring team inspected a total of 20 projects located in Davao City and the Provinces of Davao del Norte and Davao de Oro on April 22-25, 2025 and May 6, 2025. Of the 21 projects, 6 projects are completed, and 15 projects are ongoing.
